but srsly what is with this creeptastic trend of shirtless guys with weird eyes holding up signs about femininity/beauty/confidence? do they think that the insecure female masses of the world will see their glistening sepia/b&w/over-saturated eyes + sharpied signs and have some kind of realization? BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY who are these man-children and why are they telling me what to do!

The Hamsa is a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout North Africa, and commonly used in jewelry and wall hangings.Depicting the open right hand, an image recognized and used as a sign of protection in many societies throughout history, the hamsa is believed to provide defense against the evil eye. It is also known as the hand of Fatima, so named to commemorate Muhammad’s daughter Fatima Zahra. Levantine Christians call it the hand of Mary, for the mother of Jesus. Following its incorporation into Jewish tradition via its widespread use in the Islamic world, it was also renamed the hand of Miriam for Miriam, sister of Moses.

Its exact origins are unknown. A universal sign of protection, the image of the open right hand is seen in Mesopotamian artifacts in the amulets of the Qāt Ištar and the Qāt Inana and in the Buddha’s gesture of teaching and protection. Other symbols of divine protection based around the hand include the Hand-of-Venus (or Aphrodite) and the Hand-of-Mary that was used to protect women from the evil eye, boost fertility and lactation, promote healthy pregnancies, and strengthen the weak.

H2O Music Festival 2012

HI YALL! so i’m not much of a promoter, but my dad is hosting this music festival in Dallas/Los Angeles this summer and i would LOVE if anyone wanted to come out and go! It’s not only a sick line-up, but it’s the first crossover music festival. Some of the headliners include Snoop Dogg, Juanes, Weezer, Gym Class Heroes, Tiesto, Mana, etc.

World’s CUTEST Marriage Proposal!!

We have seen some pretty epic marriage proposals in the past, (Disney flash mob anyone??) but this one takes the cake.

Isaac Lamb crafted one of the first ever “live lip-dub performances”, which involved around 60 close friends and family members in one of the most epic marriage proposals of all time to his girlfriend (and now fiancee!) Amy Frankel.

Lamb had his brother sit Amy down in the back of a Honda CRV, telling her that he wanted to play her a song.. and the rest is history. The camera captures both the fabulous performance as well as Amy’s precious reaction.

Take a look as the proposal unfolds to Bruno Mars’ rendition of “Marry You.” I promise that by the end, you will be bawling like a baby.

ok i don’t like nice things but this is awesome, so cool that so many of their friends/fam were willing to go all out
